The first step in making a Pysanky egg is to prepare the egg for decoration. This is done by removing the yolk from the egg. To do this you will need to:
1. Make a pinhead size hole at the top and bottom of the egg.
2. Place a bulb syringe over the hole.
3. Gently squeeze to force the yolk out of the egg.
4. Once all yolk is extracted fill the holes with beeswax.

Once the yolk has been removed from the egg and you have drawn your design on the eggshell it is time to begin the intricate process of waxing and dying the egg. This process includes several steps and includes:
1. Covering your drawn design with beeswax.
2. Once this is done you can begin dipping your egg in the desired colors of dye. It is advisable to utilize the lighter colors first.
3. Once the dye has been applied you take your kitska and fill in all of the areas on the egg that you wish to remain that color with beeswax.
4. This process is repeated until your egg has been dipped in all of the desired colors and all areas that are to be a color have been filled in with beeswax.
5. The egg is now ready for the great reveal.

Once the egg has been covered in beeswax it is time to reveal the true beauty of the Pysanky.
1. Take your beeswax covered egg and insert a small file into the plugged up hole of the egg breaking the seal that was made earlier.
2. Utilizing this file begin turning the egg over the open flame of your candle.
3. As the wax begins to melt gently wipe it off with a soft cloth.
4. Continue this process until all of the wax has been removed from the egg.
5. Now you can see all of the beautiful, colored designs on the egg.
